Ever wished you had an easy way to capture that Skype phone call? Evoca.com is making it happen. We’ve mentioned Evoca (www.evoca.com) previously on ENN.
It’s a simple service which allows anyone to record audio online or upload their audio for sharing with friends, family or business contacts. Nothing that revolutionary in this day and age, but where Evoca stands apart is in the simple execution of the interface and the usability of the service. Evoca now has a host of ways to not only create audio, but to organise, search and share it, too. Each recording automatically generates two flavours of audio app (using ‘embed’ or ‘iframe’) which you can then drop into blogs or comments online. Or you can just send a simple link via email.

Now they’ve begun to take this premise of audio recording, hosting and sharing and really make it a whole lot more useful. The thing that caught this reviewer’s eye was the recent implementation of a feature that will be welcome to anyone who uses Skype regularly.

Evoca’s mini player which can be embedded in other sites or blogs With your Evoca account set up, you can simply add a new contact, in this case ‘Evoca Skype Call Recorder’ to your Skype contact list, and then, when you are ready to make a recording of your call you simply add this contact to the call group in order to make a real-time record of the conversation. Don’t forget the usual courtesy, of course: you must notify anyone you speak to that you intend to record your chat with them.
When your call is finished it then saves it to your Evoca account, where you can make it available using all the means mentioned.
It really is that simple, which is why it’s so appealing. It doesn’t involve any complex instructions or a need to fiddle with any Skype settings. It just works and that’s a key to the success of any online service these days.
The only downside is that it’s currently only available for Skype. It would be good to see the same concept extended to all the other instant messaging clients out there.

Evoca is providing the first 15 minutes of recording per month to anyone with its free account. The Pro account costs USD15 each quarter and provides 180 minutes per month which can be topped up if more is needed.
